If you’ve ever been halfway through a project and realised the exact bush, spacer or mount you need doesn’t exist, you’ll know the sinking feeling that comes with it. That’s exactly why we manufacture our Polyurethane Bar—a machinable polyurethane rod that lets you create the precise component your build demands.
In this post, we’ll run through what makes polyurethane bar so handy, why it’s better than trying to adapt an ill-fitting part, and how it can save the day for classic restorers, fabricators, off-roaders and anyone who enjoys making their own solutions.
What Is a Polyurethane Bar?
A polyurethane bar (sometimes called a polyurethane rod) is exactly what it sounds like: A solid length of high-quality polyurethane that you can machine on a lathe. We produce it in a variety of diameters, so you can pick the size closest to your end goal and turn it down to your exact measurements.
It’s made from the same material we use in our production suspension bushes—so you’re getting the durability, flexibility and impressive tear strength you’d expect from proper automotive-grade polyurethane.
Why Polyurethane Bar Beats Adapting an Existing Part
Can’t Find What You’re Looking For | Try Polyurethane Bar
We’ve seen plenty of people try to modify a rubber bush or shave down something “close enough” to get themselves out of trouble. Honestly, it’s rarely worth it. Rubber deforms, collapses, and generally doesn’t appreciate being re-imagined into something it was never meant to be.
Machining a lathe-ready polyurethane rod, on the other hand, gives you:
Perfect fitment
You’re not fudging anything. You machine the part to exactly the dimensions you want—outer diameter, inner diameter, length, chamfers, the lot.
Far stronger material than rubber
Polyurethane laughs in the face of oils, road grime, UV, compression cycles and general abuse. If you’re going to the trouble of machining a custom part, you may as well make it last.
Consistency and repeatability
Need to make a second bush? A spare? A mirrored pair? Easy. Same bar, same material, same process.
Who Benefits Most From Using Polyurethane Rod?
Honestly, anyone with a lathe. But the biggest winners tend to be:
Classic car restorers
Some old cars use oddball bush sizes the aftermarket never produced in polyurethane. With a polyurethane bar, you can recreate them exactly—no compromise, no hunting scrapyards, no praying for NOS.
Fabricators & custom builders
If you’re designing your own suspension arms, engine mounts, subframe bushings, vibration isolators or even just mounting an intercooler / uprated radiator, a raw polyurethane rod lets you tweak your design until it’s bang on.
Off-road & 4×4 tuners
Land Rover owners, I’m looking at you. When you’re experimenting with geometry, lift kits or custom arms, polyurethane rods let you build the right isolator or bush for your setup.
Anyone solving a vibration or fitment issue
Sometimes a standard bush is too soft, too tall, too wide, or not quite the right hardness. Machined polyurethane lets you dial in the response you want.
How Easy Is It to Machine Polyurethane?
If you’ve handled nylon bar or other engineering plastics, this isn’t much different. It cuts cleanly, holds tolerances nicely, and doesn’t fight you like some softer elastomers.
A few quick tips:
Use sharp tools
Take moderate cuts (don’t try to peel massive chunks off)
Keep the part well supported to avoid deflection
Clean up edges with a light skim or sharp blade
The beauty is that you’re not battling the material—polyurethane behaves itself and produces a tidy, functional component.
Why Keep A Polyurethane Bar in Your Workshop?
Because it’s one of those “save the day” materials. If you’ve got a length on the shelf, you’re never stuck waiting for a weird-size bush or resorting to a bodged solution.
I’d argue it’s as essential as keeping a stock of aluminium bar or mild steel in the corner—except polyurethane solves the kind of problems metal never can.
Ready to Make Your Own Bushes?
If you’re fed up with chasing parts that don’t exist, or you simply want the freedom to create exactly what your project needs, our Polyurethane Bar is the way to go.
Various sizes, proper automotive grade, and built to take real-world punishment.
Your project deserves a part that fits perfectly—so why settle for anything else?
Polaris Rangers are built for work — trusted by farmers, groundskeepers, estate managers and off-road enthusiasts alike.
But even the toughest UTVs (Utility Task Vehicles) have a weak link: their suspension bushes.
From brand-new Ranger 1000 Crew models to well-used Ranger 800s, owners across the UK & US (and beyond) have reported premature bush wear.
The issue is simple — the factory-fitted hard, non-flexible Nylon-like bushes can’t withstand the constant punishment of off-road use, mud, chemicals, and load stress.
That’s where Polybush comes in. Manufactured in the UK and proven in the field, Polybush’s polyurethane suspension bushes transform the way your Polaris handles, lasts, and performs — turning early failures into long-term reliability.
Why OEM Polaris Bushes Fail
Rubber is soft, cheap, and comfortable — but on working vehicles, it’s also vulnerable. Constant flexing and exposure to contaminants like oil, fuel, and cleaning chemicals cause rubber to perish, crack and split. That’s why your Polaris doesn’t have rubber bushes; it has hard plastic bushes. But when you add in heavy loads, side stresses, and daily use, it’s no surprise many Polaris Rangers develop knocking noises, vague steering, or uneven tyre wear within months.
Tyre Wear Caused By Failing Bushes
Common failure symptoms include:
Excessive movement in wishbones (Control Arms & A-Arms)
Uneven tyre wear or steering pull
Suspension clunks or squeaks
Poor stability under load
Once this happens, alignment suffers, tyres wear faster, and your Ranger loses that planted, confident feel it had when new.
The Polybush Solution
Polybush’s precision-engineered polyurethane bushes directly replace Polaris OEM rubber components, eliminating the weaknesses of rubber while preserving comfort and flexibility.
Unlike rubber and Nylon, polyurethane resists oil, fuel, UV, and high-pressure washing — meaning your suspension geometry remains correct and consistent for the life of the vehicle.

Polybush bushes are available for every major Polaris Ranger model from 2010 onwards. Below is a breakdown of common factory issues and how Polybush solves them.
OEM rubber bushes in the control arms (A-Arms) often deform quickly, leading to vague steering and noise. Polybush 53A and 53E replace these with durable polyurethane, maintaining correct alignment even under heavy loads.
The most common complaint is excessive play in the lower wishbone (A-Arm) bushes and rear hub mounts. Our kits 228 and 229 replace OEM 5452233 and 5139966 bushes, restoring precision and stability.
The 800’s heavy-duty chassis puts real strain on the anti-roll bar and rear upright bushes. Our 53F and 53H bushes prevent deflection and extend lifespan dramatically.
Diesel torque and extra vibration destroy OEM rubber bushes in short order. Polybush polyurethane eliminates premature wear and isolates vibration without sacrificing comfort.
A powerful workhorse with a known weak point — the lower control arm (A-Arm) and rear hub bushes. Polybush kits 234 and 237 provide long-term stability, with polyurethane that won’t compress or crack.
Owners often report poor alignment and a harsh knocking under load. Our complete replacement kits include 53A–53M to ensure every control arm (A-Arm) and shock pivot is properly supported.
The electric XP Kinetic’s instant torque and quiet running make bushing quality vital. Our polyurethane bushes maintain geometry without introducing noise or vibration, ensuring smooth, silent performance.
For electric and estate-use Rangers, silent operation is essential. Polybush 53L and 53M provide durable, noise-free shock absorber mounts that last for years without deterioration.

Polybush Now Manufacturing Polaris Ranger Bushes – The Ultimate Upgrade
Polybush is now manufacturing a full range of polyurethane suspension bushes for Polaris Ranger models, including the Ranger 1000, XP 1000, 902D and the XP Kinetic. If you own one, or even a fleet of these machines, you’ll already know how capable they are – but also how frustrating it can be when the OE bushings give up long before they should.
The standard Polaris bushings are made from a hard plastic. On paper, that sounds tough, but in practice it’s anything but. Hard plastic doesn’t flex, it wears quickly, it knocks, and once it’s gone, your suspension geometry, ride quality and even handling suffer. For a workhorse like the Ranger, that’s unacceptable.
That’s where Polybush steps in.
Kit 232 – Replacing worn-out bushes on Polaris Shocks – Part No: 7043753

Frequently Asked Questions – Polybush for Polaris Ranger
Are Polybushes difficult to fit on a Polaris Ranger?
Not at all. Polybushes are designed as a direct replacement for the OEM bushes. If you’re handy with spanners and already comfortable with removing wishbones or suspension arms, you’ll find the process straightforward. Most customers fit them at home with basic tools, or you can get your local workshop to do it.
Do Polybush bushes need greasing?
No. One of the big advantages of Polybush is that it needs no grease! Unlike some aftermarket bushes that squeak or need regular greasing, Polybushes are made from a specially formulated polyurethane that doesn’t require extra lubrication. Fit them once and forget about them.
How long do Polybushes last compared to OEM plastic bushes?
Polybushes last many times longer than the original Polaris plastic bushes. OEM bushings can wear out frustratingly quickly, especially if your Ranger works hard or lives in mud, dust, and water. Polybushes are designed to cope with exactly those conditions, meaning you’ll be changing them far less often.
Will Polybush make my Polaris Ranger ride harder?
No – quite the opposite. Because Polybushes flex where needed, they actually absorb harshness better than the rigid OEM plastic bushes. You’ll notice a more controlled, quieter and smoother ride, without the knocks and play that develop when plastic bushes wear out.
Are these bushes made in the UK?
Yes – every single Polybush is manufactured in our UK factory. We design, tool, and mould them in-house to guarantee consistent quality. No outsourcing, no cutting corners – just proven British engineering.
Do you sell complete kits as well as individual bushes?
Yes. You can buy individual bushes for specific repairs, or full kits if you’d like to refresh the entire suspension. Many owners opt for a complete kit, ensuring everything is upgraded at once, which ensures perfect alignment and a longer service life.
The Polaris Ranger is one of the most capable side-by-sides on the market – but it’s let down by weak OEM bushings. With Polybush, you get a fit-and-forget Polaris Ranger suspension upgrade that transforms durability, ride quality, and handling.
Whether you run a working Ranger 902D, a family-hauling 1000 CREW, a performance XP 1000, or the all-electric XP Kinetic, Polybush polyurethane bushes give you the confidence your suspension will stay strong, quiet, and reliable for years.
If you own or manage a Citroën Relay, Fiat Ducato, or Peugeot Boxer from 2006 onwards—especially one converted into a campervan, used as an ambulance, or operating as part of a fleet delivery service—you may already know that your air suspension setup differs from standard van models.
The good news? Polybush has you covered.
Worn Bushes Will Also Cause Tyre Wear – Further increasing costs.
Whether you’re trying to eliminate annoying knocks and poor handling from worn bushes or save on costly full component replacements, our polyurethane air suspension bushes are the perfect solution.
Why Air Suspension Bushes Vary in Campers, Ambulances, and Delivery Vans
These vehicles often come equipped with factory or aftermarket air suspension systems to enhance ride comfort and handling under varying loads. However, this means they don’t use the same bush sizes or configurations as standard steel-sprung vans.
Because of this, many Citroën Relay, Fiat Ducato, and Peugeot Boxer owners struggle to find the right replacement bushes—especially if their vehicle was professionally converted for medical, leisure or commercial use.
Find the Right Bush – Use Our PDF Measurement Guide
To help you identify the exact Polybush part you need, we’ve created a clear PDF guide with dimensions and images of each air suspension bush we offer for these platforms. All you need to do is:
Measure your existing bushes or mounting points

Why Choose Polybush Over Rubber?
Whether you run a single campervan or a fleet of front-line ambulances, rubber just doesn’t last in high-load, high-use scenarios. Here’s why Polybush is the smarter choice:
Longer Lifespan – Polyurethane is resistant to wear, oils, UV, road salt, and varying conditions.
No Perishing or Cracking – Unlike rubber, Polybush doesn’t degrade .
Improved Stability – Tighter tolerances give better ride control and reduced body roll.
Cost-Efficient – Replace just the failed bushes rather than complete arms or air bag mounts.
Case Study: How We Helped an Ambulance Fleet Save Thousands
One of the UK’s regional ambulance services contacted us after struggling to source replacements for the failed air suspension bushes on their Fiat Ducato-based ambulances. The main dealer advised them to replace the entire mounting assembly, at a significant cost per vehicle.
After working with their maintenance team and reviewing measurements from our guide, we supplied only the specific polyurethane bushes that had worn—saving them from scrapping perfectly serviceable components.
Result? Thousands of pounds saved, less vehicle downtime, and longer-lasting performance.
Perfect for Campers, Ambulances and Fleet Delivery Vehicles
If your vehicle falls into one of the following categories, this applies to you:

These bushes include the 40DE and 40DG, which replace the main failure parts (OE References: 1865033, 1865034 for 40DE and 31387282, 31406349 for 40DG).
But we didn’t stop there — our commitment to quality, comfort and the reduction of tyre wear led us to develop a complete solution for the rear suspension system.
Why Go Beyond the Basics?
During our rigorous testing and development process, we discovered that installing the 40DE or 40DG bushes often required removing the rear toe arm. Unfortunately, those bolts were frequently seized into the bush, which meant cutting them off and replacing the 40DK bush and bolts before reassembly.
40DK Replaces OEM Part Number: 13311920,13340837
To ensure proper alignment, it’s essential to address the camber of the rear suspension. That’s why we’ve also manufactured:
40DL and 40DM: Rear spring bucket inner and outer bushes.
40DK: Upper toe arm bushes.
Replacing all these components allows for precise alignment, extended lifespan, and enhanced comfort, making it the ultimate upgrade for these vehicles.
The Polyurethane Advantage
Rubber bushes, while standard in most vehicles, degrade over time due to exposure to heat, moisture, and contaminants. This leads to cracking, hardening, and ultimately failure. Polyurethane, on the other hand, offers several advantages:
Durability: Polyurethane bushes last 4-5 times longer than rubber.
Performance: They provide better handling and more consistent performance.
Comfort: Despite their superior durability, our bushes maintain excellent comfort levels.
Whether you’re a commuter, a taxi operator, or an enthusiast seeking optimal performance, Polybush is the ideal choice.
OEM Bushing Cracked, Split, Rusted & Debonding
Tested and Proven
Our development car, a taxi that endured demanding conditions, demonstrated the real-world benefits of this upgrade:
Comfortable Ride: Enhanced comfort even after prolonged use.
Better Handling: Improved stability and road feel.
Perfect Alignment: Longer tyre life thanks to proper alignment.
With Polybush, you’re not just replacing worn-out parts — you’re investing in quality, performance, and peace of mind. Whether you’re tackling a restoration or simply want the best for your car, our bushes are the ultimate solution.

With over 50 brands under our belt and decades of manufacturing experience, we’ve encountered our fair share of automotive woes.
One recurring headache? The VW, Audi, Seat & Skoda Front Wishbone Rear Bush’s. (The one that’s pressed into the aluminium housing) If you’ve owned or serviced one, you’ll know the frustration, failure after failure – the clunks, the frequent garage visits, the Polybush 44M – the Front Wishbone Rear Bush that delivers ultimate comfort while providing the steering enhancements our customers crave. Our new Dynamic grade sets a new standard, far surpassing the performance and longevity of all rubber alternatives, whether O.E.M or aftermarket.
But that’s not all. This replacement bush not only lasts longer but also outperforms any rubber counterpart. And we don’t just stop at the one bush; we offer a comprehensive suspension bush kit to meet all your customers needs, fitting:
Now, if you’ve had the misfortune of grappling with the VAG Front Wishbone Bush, you’re likely familiar with another nightmare – the Astra Mk6, Cascada W13 & Zafira MK3 rear beam bush. It’s a recurring ordeal – the wayward rear end, the constant trips to the workshop. But fear not! The Polybush 47B is your solution for a smoother drive and a rear-end free from roaming. Unlike its original counterpart, the 47B is built to last!
The Ford Transit V362 and V363 are known for a particular challenge: the front wishbone rear bush, notorious for premature failure. When this bush starts to fail, it leads to a loose, wobbly sensation up front and causes premature tyre wear. This is where the Polybush 40CS comes into play, effectively eliminating premature wear and tear. The 40CS is highly durable and incredibly easy to install, saving you both time and hassle. If you’re fed up with wrestling your Transit’s steering wheel and constantly replacing tyres, the 40CS is worth a try.

About Polybush Polybush is a UK-based manufacturer of high-performance polyurethane suspension bushes. We supply an extensive range of products for cars old and new, including classic restorations, modern performance vehicles, and off-road models, enhancing durability, handling, and ride comfort.
Recently, our team had the pleasure of working with Excel Signs, a local signage company, fitting their Ford Transit V362 (2012-On) with a full Polybush offering.
This van is a true workhorse, regularly carrying hefty loads of signage, tools, and equipment. However, the original rubber bushes were starting to show signs of wear, including the well-known failure point, the Front Wishbone Rear bush leading to a less-than-ideal ride quality and poor handling.
The solution? A complete upgrade to Polybush’s premium polyurethane bushes, designed to outlast and outperform the factory-fitted rubber bushes.
The Fitting Process
Our team swapped out the front wishbone front and rear bushes, fitted new front anti-roll bar bushes, and replaced the leaf spring front and rear bushes. The entire process was straightforward, thanks to our team’s familiarity with the Transit platform and Polybush’s precisely engineered parts.
The Benefits
After the installation, the improvement was immediately noticeable. Here’s why:
Improved Handling – The Transit now feels more planted, especially when cornering. The firmer bushes reduce unwanted movement, making the van more responsive to driver inputs. This is especially important for Excel Signs, who need their van to handle confidently under heavy loads.
Enhanced Ride Quality – One of the key benefits of the new Polybush kit is the smoother ride. Despite the van often being packed with heavy signage, the upgraded bushes absorb more road imperfections, making long journeys much more comfortable.
Increased Durability – Polybush polyurethane bushes are built to last, even under the strain of constant heavy loads. Excel Signs can now enjoy longer intervals between maintenance and worry less about bush wear causing any downtime.
Cost-Effective Long-Term – Polyurethane bushes won’t deteriorate the same way rubber bushes do. The higher upfront cost is balanced by their longer lifespan and superior performance, reducing the need for frequent replacements.

Client Feedback
“We’re blown away by the difference these Polybushes have made,” said Simon from Excel Signs. “The van feels sturdier, handles better, and drives smoother even with all the gear we load into it. It’s been a massive improvement, especially since we’re always on the road.”
Conclusion
If you’re running a Ford Transit V362 or any other commercial vehicle that works hard for a living, upgrading to Polybush is a no-brainer. Whether it’s improved handling, enhanced ride comfort, or just the peace of mind that comes with a longer-lasting component, the investment is well worth it.
